Do Libertarians Support The LGBTQ+? - Libertarian Country

Libertarian Country |

Yes, libertarians support and defend the inalienable rights of all people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual, pansexual, polyamorous and so on.

The government has no authority to restrict, abridge, curtail, revoke or otherwise alter the natural rights of an individual based solely on their biology, sex, sexuality, sexual preference or gender identity.

Libertarians believe in free expression and support an individual's right to dress, appear or identify however they choose.

So long as the union is between two consenting adults, individuals have a right to their private sex lives without interference from the government. With its first platform, the Libertarian Party has supported gay marriage since 1972.

Most libertarians are forward-thinking individuals who generally take no issue with what adults do in the privacy of their own homes or with their personal lives.

Some libertarians claim a moral opposition to homosexuality or transgender identities--such as Christian or Muslim libertarians--but steadfastly believe that the government has no authority to interfere with their liberties.

At least 67 countries have laws against homosexuality or transgender identities, sometimes bearing harsh penalties such as imprisonment or execution. These laws are a gross violation of human rights, and libertarians vocally and ardently oppose them.
